How are hair restoration and baldness treatment done?

A hair shedding of 150-200 per day is normal. This number may appear higher in the persons with long hair. In men and women, most of the hair shedding is the androgenic type, that is male type. This type of shedding is more prominent in the upper and front scalp, the nape region continues producing hair. While shedding is maximum in men at approximately 40 years of age, it peaks in women after menopause.
There are a few methods of treatment for hair shedding; hair plantation can be used. In this technique, hair roots in the nape region are transferred to the shed region. This procedure can be performed with laser, but the results with non-laser techniues are better. Because laser forms the hole in which the hair root will be put by burning, and this delays wound healing.
There is a second method; if there is a completely hairless area, this area is removed in a few sessions, and after the complete removal of the hairless area, a few hair roots are planted on the linear scar and a successful result is obtained.
The third method is; transferring some of the hairy scalp to the hairless area without compromising its blood flow, which we call a “flap”.
The fourth method is; enlarging the hairy scalp using a tissue expander balloon, and subsequently removing the balloon and transferring the expanded skin to the hairless area. This is one of the two-sessioned techniques and 1-2 months must pass between the two sessions for the baloon to be inflated.
Hair restoration is not a standard procedure.
Which one of these techiques will be more useful depends on the shedding and hair type. The most appropriate method will be determined by the aesthetic surgeon.
